Jo Ann's Pietenpol Air Camper, a wood and fabric, open-cockpit, high wing taildragger was designed by Bernard H. Pietenpol in 1929. Plans were first published in 1932 in Flying and Glider Manual, and Modern Mechanics and Inventions Magazine. It was a "Poor Man's Airplane" that was powered by a Model A Ford engine. There have been many variations of this popular airplane built by Pietenpol enthusiasts all over the world.

N50547 was built by Stuart Daniels of Redondo Beach, California, in 1977. Stu was an A&E for Western Airlines, and an excellent craftsman. It was first powered by a Model B Ford engine. After 5 flights and 5 failures, Stu installed an A80 Continental. During the time Stu had this "Piet", the tailskid was changed to a tailwheel, the wooden landing gear was removed and replaced with a steel tube gear, and the wings were set back 4 inches to accommodate the change in CG when the engine was changed.

Jo Ann bought the "Piet" from Stu Daniels in 1987. It performs very well with the Continental A80, cruising in this airplane at 80 MPH with the wind in your face and scarf flying behind you is a blast. Jo Ann flew this Air Camper to the 1997 Pietenpol Gathering in Corona.
